The Creative Music Technology Lab (CMTL) is an artistic research lab where students work at the intersections between music, engineering, and multimedia art. Students and faculty design and build new electronic instruments, products for music (e.g. speakers, accessible interfaces, etc), interactive systems, multimedia installations, immersive environments (XR, VR, AR), data driven music, accessible systems/instruments, systems for improvised music, and music compositions/performances. For more information about the research taking place in our lab, please visit our projects page.
The lab includes students and researchers from all backgrounds, including music technology, music performance, music composition, industrial design, electrical engineering, computer science, human-computer interaction (HCI), science and technology students (STS), and more.
